MANILA, Philippines – Isinuko ng mga concerned citizen at dalawang mangingisda ang aabot sa P20.4 milyong halaga ng shabu na napadpad sa baybayin ng Ilocos Norte.
Ang mga shabu na nakasilid sa tatlongn plastic bag at may Chinese character markings, ay tumitimbang ng halos tatlong kilo.
Nadiskubre ang mga ito na tinatangay ng alon sa baybayin ng mga Barangay Pangil, Currimao; 33-A, La Paz, Laoag City; at Masintoc, Paoay, lahat ay matatagpuan sa Ilocos Norte.
Isinuko ang mga pakete ng shabusa mga tauhan ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Ilocos Norte Provincial Office, at local counterparts mula sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Hunyo 12 at 13.
“The retrieval operations and scouring of coast lines continue until all surrounding areas are explored. This is a testament to the strong inter-agency collaboration and cooperation among law enforcement agencies, in support of local government units and seaside communities, in protecting our waters from becoming prevailing routes of drug smuggling and trafficking activities,” pahayag ni PDEA Director General Isagani R Nerez.
“What they (concerned local folks of Ilocos Norte) did indicate that honesty still works in today’s world. Citizens who are honest and vigilant in upholding the law contribute to a safer and more just society. We need more of them. They possess one of the qualities reminiscent of a Bagong Pilipino working towards a Bagong Pilipinas,” dagdag pa ni Director General Nerez.
Hanggang nitong Hunyo 13, nasa kabuuang 1,243.12 kilo ng mga lumutang na shabu na nagkakahalaga ng ₱8,453,216,000.00 ang isinuko na sa mga awtoridad ng mga residente ng Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur at Ilocos Norte. RNT/JGC
