Manila, Philippines – Matapos maalarma sa naganap na data breach sa Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) ay isinulong ng Gabriela Partylist na imbestigahan ito ng Malaking Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
Isinulong ni Gabriela Partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas na marapat lamang alamin ng gobyerno kung paano mareresolba at mapipigilan ang ransomware attack sa pamamagitan ng imbestigasyon ng mga mambabatas sa kasunod ng pag-amin ng pamunuan ng PhilHealth ukol sa nasabing hacking.
“It is alarming that Philhealth only confirmed the leak of personal information of Philhealth contributors weeks after the Medusa ransomware attack on Sept. 22. This should prompt an urgent independent investigation by the House to put concerned agencies to task and to identify the perpetrators of the data breach,” ani Brosas.
Ayon sa kongresista nakaka-alarma na ang mga impormasyong nakuha ng mga hackers ay gamitin laban sa mga miembro ng Philhealth.
“Yung mga personal information na nakuha ng hackers, pwedeng gamitin para magsagawa pa ng ibang krimen laban sa Philhealth members tulad ng identity theft. That’s why it is baffling for Philhealth to downplay concerns at the onset of the cyber attack.”
Naunang inamin ng Philhealth na kabilang sa mga nakuhang personal na impormasyon ng mga miembro nito ay ang pangalan, address, kaarawan, phone numbers at ang Philhealth ID numbers ng Medusa ransomware group.
“The implications of this cyber attack might be worse in magnitude, considering the belated admission of Philhealth and the pendency of investigations of concerned agencies such as the National Privacy Commission. Unfortunately, we have yet to hear from Malacanang on this issue,” giit pa ni Brosas.
Sinabi ng mambabatas na maaaring magsagawa ng motu propio investigation ang House Committee on Information and Communications Technology sa ginawang pag-atake ng Medusa ransomware group kahit naka-break ang Kongreso.
Hiniling na rin ni Brosas sa National Privacy Commission (NPC) na magsumite sa Kamara ng resulta ng isinagawang imbestigasyon sa naturang cyber attack. (Meliza Maluntag)
