THERE are moments when law enforcement efforts go beyond routine police work and send a strong signal to the entire region.
For Police Regional Office 6, the series of operations conducted from February 2 to 9 – was one of those defining moments.
In just one week, PRO6 carried out 27 anti-drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 36 suspects and the seizure of nearly PhP20 million worth of illegal drugs.
These are not mere statistics for accomplishment reports.
Every gram of shabu confiscated represents lives spared from addiction, families protected from destruction and communities shielded from the violence and corruption that often accompany the drug trade.
The arrest of high-value individuals in Iloilo City and Passi City shows that enforcement efforts are not limited to street-level offenders but extend to those who sustain supply networks.
Equally significant was PRO6’s intensified campaign against wanted persons.
The arrest of the Region’s Top 1 Most Wanted Person, along with several provincial and municipal top-ranking fugitives in Iloilo and Antique, underscores a clear message: fugitives cannot hide forever.
Many of those arrested face serious charges, including rape — crimes that deeply wound victims and communities.
Their capture is not only a legal victory but a moral one.
Leadership plays a crucial role in sustaining such momentum. Under PBGen Josefino D. Ligan, PRO6 has emphasized intelligence-driven operations, inter-unit coordination, and community vigilance.
These elements, working together, create real impact.
Law enforcement alone cannot solve every problem. But when police remain consistent and communities cooperate, progress becomes visible.
The recent accomplishments of PRO6 remind us that justice may take time, but with persistence and resolve, it moves forward — steadily and surely — toward safer streets in Western Visayas.
