PUBLIC WARNED ABOUT FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA ON SANDOVAL, HUBBY

MALABON Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has warned the public against bogus social media accounts and posts that spread disinformation regarding the city government’s programs and services.

Sandoval said she’s already discussing plans with the city legal department about the possibility of building up cases ” against the creators and purveyors of these fake news.”

”On behalf of the local government, I strongly condemned these rampant spread of fake news and disinformation about city government programs, activities, and services disseminated by certain groups, which aimed to manipulate public opinion for their own political agenda,” Malabon’s first female mayor said.

The local government has recently received reports about fake Facebook accounts using the names “Mayor Jeannie Sandoval” and her husband “Ricky Sandoval”, former Malabon Congressman.

Earlier last month, the Sandoval administration also warned the public about several posts by social media pages “Malabon Lubog” and “Malabon News” that shared false news about the city chief executive.

The mayor urged the ’Malabueños’ to be critical of misinformation, especially on social media by first verifying or fact-checking from official and legitimate sources including the official Facebook pages of the city government.

Sandoval said the dirty tactics of some quarters with “hidden political agenda” were not new to her and her camp.

“But this wouldn’t stop my administration from continuously providing the much-needed services to my constituents particularly those at the remote communities.”

More ‘ayuda’ for Malabueños

Sandoval has announced that the city government will release five tranches of ’ayuda’ (assistance) under the Malabon Ahon Blue Card program this year.

In July 2024, the city government launched the MABC Burial and Hospitalization Assistance that provided P5,000 financial aid to beneficiaries for their hospital expenses and for the burial of their deceased loved ones.

As of last month, there were 433 beneficiaries who claimed their burial aid while 272 received financial assistance for their hospitalization.
