MANILA, Philippines – Iginiit ni House Committee on Justice chair Gerville Luistro na hindi maaaring ituring na “polluted source” si Ramil Madriaga sa impeachment proceedings laban kay Bise Presidente Sara Duterte, at binigyang-diin ang kanyang karapatan sa presumption of innocence.
“How can we consider Ramil Madriaga already as a polluted source? His perjury case is pending. The kidnapping case against him is pending, and remember there’s a constitutional guarantee of presumption of innocence which Ramil Madriaga is supposed to enjoy,” ani Luistro sa panayam ng Super Radyo DZBB.
“Because Madriaga is not a convicted prisoner. He is a detention prisoner,” dagdag pa niya.
Pahayag ito ni Luistro bilang tugon kay Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez na kumuwestiyon sa kredibilidad ni Madriaga at tumutol sa pagharap nito sa komite.
Nauna nang naglabas ng subpoena ang House justice committee laban kay Madriaga, kasama ang kanyang affidavit at counsel, bilang bahagi ng pagtukoy ng probable cause sa impeachment case.
Si Madriaga, na nagpakilalang dating aide ni Duterte—na paulit-ulit namang itinanggi ng Bise Presidente—ay kasalukuyang nakakulong sa Camp Bagong Diwa dahil sa kasong kidnapping.
Ayon kay Luistro, malaya ang mga mambabatas na siyasatin ang kredibilidad ni Madriaga sa oras na humarap ito sa pagdinig.
“They are at full liberty, including Congressman Rodriguez whom I respect so much, to test the credibility of Madriaga once he is presented before the Justice Committee,” aniya.
Inaprubahan din ng komite ang paglalagay kay Madriaga sa protective custody habang dumadalo sa mga pagdinig, sa koordinasyon ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at iba pang ahensya upang matiyak ang kanyang seguridad. RNT
