MANILA, Philippines- Dumating ang landing ship tank ng Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) sa Manila nitong Huwebes para sa goodwill visit sa pagdami ng mga bansang nagkakasa ng mas maigting na security cooperation sa Pilipinas.
Sinalubong ng Philippine Navy (PN) ang Republic of Singapore Ship (RSS) Endeavour (210) nang dumaong ito sa Port of Manila.
Nag-courtesy call si Colonel Wong Chng Tong, deputy commander ng RSN’s Maritime Training and Doctrine Command, at kanyang delegasyon sa PN headquarters kung saan sila sinalubong ni Commodore Ireneo D Battung PN, commander ng PN’s Sealift Amphibious Force, bilang kinatawan ni Navy chief Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta.
“The visit highlights the mutual commitment of both nations to regional peace, stability, and security. It also offers the Philippine Navy valuable opportunities to gain insights into best practices, improve operational capabilities, and strengthen future collaboration on maritime security challenges, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing strategic capabilities and fostering closer ties with regional partners,” pahayag ni PN spokesperson Captain John Percie Alcos nitong Biyernes.
Sa courtesy call, tinalakay nina Commodore Battung at Colonel Wong ang mga pamamaraan para paghusayin ang bilateral defense relations at kooperasyon ng Pilipinas at Singapore.
“They also exchanged views on the education of naval officers from both countries to promote knowledge sharing and professional development,” dagdag ni Alcos.
Base sa Ministry of Defence of Singapore, ang RSS Endeavour ay may habang 141 meters, may beam na 21 meters at displacement na 6,000 tonnes. Mayroon itong 81-member crew.
May bilis itong 15 knots at range na 5,000 nautical miles.
Ang Endurance-class landing ship tank ang ikalawang foreign warship na dumaong sa bansa para sa goodwill visit sa nakalipas na linggo.
Mula Feb. 7 hanggang 11, nasa Manila rin ang Canadian frigate HMCS Ottawa (FFH-341) para makipag-ugnayan sa PN. RNT/SA
