THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group under the leadership of P/MGen. Nicolas Torre III has consistently intensified its efforts against criminality nationwide.
With the midterm elections approaching, Torre emphasized that the CIDG must remain vigilant, continuing its operations to combat criminal elements and ensure a peaceful and credible election.
He highlighted that while February’s accomplishments were commendable, there is always room for further improvement in the coming months.
In February, the CIDG’s 1,943 uniformed personnel across the country carried out 1,047 law enforcement operations leading to the arrest of 1,886 law violators, including criminals and wanted persons.
Among the confiscated items during these operations were 128 firearms, 9,015 explosives, 1,708 rounds of ammunition and various other pieces of evidence valued at nearly P200 million.
The CIDG’s efforts are not limited to local criminals, as 459 of the arrested individuals were foreigners with 429 of them involved in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators and Internet Gaming Licensee operations.
The CIDG’s operations in February focused on a wide range of criminal activities, including the capture of fugitives, the seizure of loose firearms and explosives and dismantling criminal gangs.
In addition, the team took significant steps against illegal gambling, the practice of fake medicine, environmental crimes, counterfeiting and smuggling, including the illegal refilling of LPG cylinders.
These operations demonstrate the CIDG’s broad approach to addressing various threats to public safety.
Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil lauded the hard work and dedication of the CIDG personnel, commending their consistent commitment to fulfilling their duties.
As the CIDG continues to expand its operations and target diverse criminal activities, it remains focused on ensuring the safety and security of the public, particularly in light of the upcoming elections.
With these ongoing efforts, the CIDG aims to surpass its achievements in the months to come, making significant strides toward a safer Philippines.
