MALABON SETS GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS FOR LONGEST NOODLE LINE

THE city of Malabon has broken the Guinness World Records for the Longest Line of Bowls of Noodles after it managed to assemble 6, 549 bowls of the popular ‘Pancit Malabon.’

Held last Friday at the Malabon Sports Complex beside city hall, the historic event shattered the current record of 3, 988 servings of noodles held by the Jinshi Beef and Rice Noodles Association in Hunan, China in 2019.

Thanking the THE Guinness World Record for the feat specifically its adjudicator, Sonia Ushirogochi, local officials led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and City Administrator Alexander Rosete were all praises for the 12 dedicated ‘panciteria’ owners who joined forces while bringing their skills and expertise that put Malabon and the Philippines into top global position in culinary heritage.

”The collaboration and teamwork among these local food masters demonstrate the true spirit of ‘bayanihan’ (community cooperation) that defines Malabon,” the visibly-jubilant Sandoval said.

”It stands as a testament to the community’s unity and pride in its culinary heritage,” the city’s first female chief executive, who also personally served the bowls during the event, added.

Beyond being a delicious dish, Pancit Malabon represents the city’s vibrant culture and long-standing culinary traditions, Rosete said.

It is an embodiment of community pride and a symbol of unity among residents, he told the Good Riddance.

The top city officials reiterated that the latest achievement of Malabon was more than just a record-breaking feat.

”It‘s a tribute to the hardworking local food industry and a testament to the deep pride of every ‘Malabueño’,” they stressed.

Known for its rich, flavorful sauce and colorful toppings, Pancit Malabon is a beloved noodle dish that obviously originated in Malabon and has been a staple in Filipino celebrations for generations.

The panciteria owners crafted a special version of Pancit Malabon with unique ingredients like calamansi, red oil, crunched ‘kropek’ ‘tinapa’ (smoked fish) flakes, ground pepper and fish sauce.

In a single line, each bowl, which contains a consistent and standard serving of 100 grams of cooked noodles, must touch the bowl on either side.

Proper hygiene and food safety protocols were strictly observed throughout the event.

After the successful attempt, the bowls of noodles were distributed to the rejoicing residents for consumption as part of the Guinness’ criteria.
