MANILA, Philippines – PINURI ni Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, ang Filipino community sa Qatar para sa naging kontribusyon ng mga ito sa ‘pag-unlad at progreso’ ng kanyang bansa.
“This is my pleasure to take this opportunity to praise the Filipino community residing in the State of Qatar and their effective contribution to the development, progress in our country,” ang sinabi ni Sheikh Tamim kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa bilateral meeting ng mga ito sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang.
Sinabi ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) na ang Qatar ay nagsilbing pangalawang tahanan ng 242,609 Filipino. Noong 2022, ang remittances sa Pilipinas mula Qatar ay nagkakahalaga ng $895.33 million.
Nagpaabot naman ng pasasalamat si Sheikh Tamim kay Pangulong Marcos para sa Filipino hospitality matapos na saksihan ng mga ito ang paglagda sa ilang kasunduan at memoranda of understanding (MOUs), na magpapalakas sa relasyon sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Qatar.
“The Philippines is an important partner for us in many fields and especially in trade, economic cooperation. And, we aspired to improve these relations to increase communication between the private sector in both the countries,” ayon kay Sheikh Tamim.

Si Sheikh Tamim ay kasalukuyang nasa Maynila para sa kanyang state visit sa bansa para palakasin ang bilateral ties sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Qatar.
Ang pormal na relasyon sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa ay tumagal ng 43 taon kasunod ng kanilang ‘formal establishment’ noong Mayo 5, 1981. Kris Jose
