MANILA, Philippines – Walang ibang layunin ang pagtatakda ng price cap sa presyo ng bigas at pagpapasarado ng mga rice warehouse sa buong bansa na pawang isang palabas ng dramatikong pagkilos upang makatulong sa bumabagsak na popularidad ng Marcos administration.
“Seemingly, its true purpose was to induce widespread concern and panic, to prepare the public sentiment for extraordinary and irregular moves, like the importation of rice by the government itself,” giit ni Hontiveros matapos bawiin ng Palasyo ang price cap.
Sinabi ni Hontiveros na hindi napatunayan ng price cap sa gawa-gawang kartel, hoarders at price manipulators ang pagsirit ng presyo ng bigas ilang buwan matapos paiimbestigahan ang isyu.
“Sana sa pagtatapos ng price cap, may mga nakasuhan at naparusahan na,” giit ni Hontiveros.
Aniya, pangunahing adhikain ng price cap na parusahan ang hoarders na inaasahang itataas ang presyo ng bigas nitong Setyembre.
